Dino Pastino was born in Pittsburgh PA. into a family
full of love and life. His love for music and entertainment came
from his Italian family gatherings' where four
generations would come together to dance, singe and eat. “I
remember when my Grandfather would bounce me on his knee, then before
long he would pick up his accordion and we would throw back the
carpet and dance for hours…and then….we would eat some
more.” Dino's influences are foremost from
his parents. Rocco was a boxer, musician,
dancer and passionate about living life for Christ along
with Geri who, to this day still instructs
dance classes and lives in Florida.
Dino attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh
to pursue a degree in Music Education. He would later transfer
to Trevecca
College in Nashville TN where he teamed up with
a number of talented musicians forming
the Christian
band, Crossfire and meeting his wife, Janna.
Crossfire backed up Randy Mathews for a season
then disbanded. Dino began touring with Andrus, Blackwood & Co.
and Janna joined Amy
Grant as a backup singer. They both toured with Ric
Cua in the mid-80's.
Dino’s introduction to Country Music as brief gigs with Tommy
Overstreet and Vern Gosdin followed
by many years of performing in the Nashville music nightlife
and studio scene. Printer’s Alley is
the place where Dino honed his country chops and learned the
art
of blending
different musical styles together to produce beautiful music.
In 1987 he joined the two-time “Entertainer of the
Year” award
winning Barbara Mandrell Show. His nearly 10 years with Barbara
afforded him opportunities to perform at the White House,
a variety of music award shows, Late Night Television and The
Grand Ole Opry as well as live performances with
the likes of Gladys Knight and CeCe Winans.
With the conclusion of Barbara’s farewell concert Dino
connected with the three- time” Entertainer
of the Year” and “Band of the Decade” Super
Group, Alabama in 1998 He celebrated the American
Farewell Tour with Alabama in 2004. Dino has had the pleasure of
recording on several of Barbara's and Alabama's CD's.
Dino and Janna are now the Music Pastors at Bethel World
Outreach Center in Nashville. There is much work to be done for the Kingdom
of God. They are now writing, producing and recording all types
of musical projects. Dino has recently co-produced a project
with Tim McGraw’s producer, Darren Smith.
